Bylaws of the Jordanian Association for Behavior Analysis

Article I: Name
 
The name of this association shall be the Jordanian Association for Behavior Analysis (JABA). JABA is a regional organization whose purpose is to promote intellectual exchange and professional development in the field of behavior analysis. JABA promotes behavior analysis through:

  • Disseminating behavior analytic concepts among health professionals and other related professions
  • Providing a forum for behavior analysts to share information and resources
  • Supporting behavior analytic educational initiatives in the region
  • Developing awareness activities designed to highlight the need for behavior analytic services

 
Article II: Membership
 
JABA shall have three classes of members: Full Members, Student Members, and Affiliate Members. Membership shall be contingent upon the payment of JABA dues when applicable and fulfillment of the following conditions: Full Members shall hold a masters or doctoral degree or equivalent in a field related to behavior analysis. Student members shall provide documentation of full time student status by an official of their training institution. Affiliate members shall be those who do not meet the requirements of either Full or Student Members.
 
Article III: Activities and Services
 
JABA should:

  • Hold an annual conference each year.
  • Hold colloquia each year.
  • Submit an annual report to the Association for Behavior Analysis International.
  • Send out an electronic newsletter to its membership each year.
  • Maintain an informative web site for its membership.

 
Article IV: Dues and Fees
 
Membership dues and conference registration fees shall be set by a vote of the Full Members and the current Student Representative. Affiliate dues and fees shall be equal to those of Full Members. Student Member dues and fees shall be set such as not to exceed 25% of Full/Affiliate Member dues and fees.
 
Article V: Officers and Governance
 
JABA shall be governed by a Council made up of 3 Officers, including: President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Student Representative. The President and Secretary/Treasurer Officers must be Full Members of JABA. The Student Representative must be a Student Member of JABA and a graduate student in behavior analysis at the time of his/her election and throughout his/her term.
 
Important decisions impacting the Association will be decided by majority vote between the President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Student Representative. Votes from all 3 Officers must be accounted for before the Association can move on a decision.
 
The President and Student Representative of JABA must both be residents of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at the time of the election.
 
The President shall preside over a Business Meeting held at the annual conference and submit an annual report on the activities of JABA to the Association for Behavior Analysis International Executive Council. The President shall select the site of the annual conference and make appropriate arrangments for a conference to be held at this site.
 
The President shall appoint a Program Chair for a term of one year. The Program Chair shall be responsible for developing and implementing the conference program, conference announcement, and conference booklet. The Program Chair shall also be responsible for developing and maintaining the Association's website, through which regular communications to the Association's members may be achieved.
 
The President shall form Standing Committees and Task Forces, as needed, and appoint their Chairs. The period in which such entities are in operation, and the terms of officie of their Chairs, shall be determined by the President in consultation with the Officers of the Association.
 
The Secretary/Treasurer shall be responsible for maintaining the Association's records, including those pertaining to the actions taken at the Business Meeting, membership and conference registration. The Secretary/Treasurer shall make a report to the members at the Business Meeting.
 
The Secretary/Treasurer shall be responsible for the Association's newsletter. This newsletter will go out at least once a year and should be filled with information about the Association and its activities.
 
Article VI: Voting Rights and Elections
 
At the annual conference, the President, or a representative appointed by the President, shall convene a Business Meeting to conduct the affairs of the Association.
 
Full Members may vote at the Business Meeting or on the Association's website when applicable. Initiatives proposed at the Business Meeting, with the exception of changes or amendments to the Bylaws, shall be enacted if endorsed by a majority of the voting Full Members. Changes to the Bylaws shall be put to Full Members by online ballot, mail ballot, or during the annual Business Meeting. Changes to the Bylaws shall be enacted by a two-thirds majority.
 
Each Fall the President shall invite nominations for next President and Secretary/Treasurer of the Association. Nominees for both of these positions will be asked if they are willing to stand for election. Those who are willing to serve shall become candidates. Full Members shall select among the candidates by paper ballot or online ballot. A candidate is elected if endorsed by a plurality of the Full Members.
 
The Student Representative shall convene a meeting of the Student Members at the annual conference to conduct affairs of the Association pertinent to Student Members. At the Student Meeting, the Student Representative shall invite nominations for the next Student Representative and ask nominees if they are willing to stand election. Those who are willing to serve shall become candidates. Student Members shall select among the candidates by paper ballot or online ballot. A candidate is elected if endorsed by a plurality of the Student Members.
 
The President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Student Representative one-year term of office will begin on January 1st of each calendar year.
